Stevens Inn

My husband stayed at this hotel for a week since he is working out of town and not once did his room get serviced. He knows not to leave any personal belongings on top of the beds if he wants his bed done. He asked at the front desk if they could clean his room and bathroom and he was told they charged extra!!!!!! NEVER have I heard this nonsense of paying extra. They even had to switch him rooms because the shower head had no pressure. They won’t be seeing him or his working crew back next week.

I'm actually very surprised by how great our stay was, based off the previous reviews, I was nervous to try this place. But I'm glad I took the chance because it was one of the best places I've ever stayed, especially in New Mexico. At first, there was a mistake with the first room we got not being ready when we got in, but right away, they moved us over to a new clean room. Everything was super tidy inside the room, and the pool was actually clean, so we could swim, unlike other hotels/motels. All the staff was very friendly and attentive to us and weren't rude one bit! The absolute best part of the stay was the restaurant. The food in the restaurant ( The Flume ) was absolutely delicious, we ended up eating there twice during our stay. We ordered the chicken Alfredo, which was good, but I didn't love it, although my siblings did. Ordered the sirloin steak, also cooked to perfection, and we ate the Shrimp Alfredo, which was better than olive garden in our opinion. The only thing we all collectively didn't like was the guacamole.

I’m only reviewing this for the restaurant that is inside the inn. I went for dinner and had the salad bar and 16 oz ribeye steak with fries. Overall, the steak wasn’t cooked the way I wanted. I asked for medium rare and it was more medium. It had no flavor at all. It was soft but lacking on the flavor. The fries are just crinkle style fries you can buy from the frozen bag. They were ok. The best part was the salad bar. It has many options and ingredients to add to your salad. It also has a choice of soup. The service was great. Our waitress was attentive and nice. My family member had the shrimp scampi plate and the pasta wasn’t even cooked fully. I would probably only go back for the salad bar.

Rachel was so amazing. We originally booked a Motel 6 and when we went in for our reservation we were informed that they had sold out all the rooms the night before. So we're basically stranded in Carlsbad, NM after driving 10 hours from Houston, TX. I was calling every hotel/motel there is, and getting the same generic response "NO rooms or NO check in till around 3pm. Until Rachel stepped in and saved us. She told us to head on over and she would take care of us and get us in a room ASAP. We ended up getting 2 rooms, and Rachel was so helpful, thoughtful, friendly, and provided us with the best service possible. She literally saved our Family Vacation. We were able to go and enjoy the Carlsbad Caverns after such a horrible beginning to our trip. Thank you so much Rachel and Steven's Inn!!!!! By the way rooms were extremely reasonable, spacious, and very clean. We enjoyed the gym and pool as well. This is the only place I'd recommend staying at in Carlsbad, NM.
